October Young Person`s Health Forum
340 young people from 12 Oldham borough primary schools visited Alexandra Park to take part in healthy outdoor activities, emotional wellbeing sessions, healthy eating workshops and a visit to the Healthy Market Place
The 2 Day event was organised by Healthwatch Oldham in partnership with The Oldham Pledge initiative and Oldham Sport Development – and connected to Oldham Pledge 3 – To take responsibility for your own health and wellbeing
On each of the days, all pupils attended a presentation from TOG Mind and completed a daily mile walk , they also had the opportunity to try lots of different activities from partners that included – Cycling, Cooking, Nordic Walking, Relax Kids , Reiki, Static Kayaking, Active play, Circuits. The young people also visited a range of health stalls, including Mind, ABL Health, Proud Trust, Oral Health, School Nurses, Get Oldham Growing, Oldham Libraries and Macmillan Oldham.
The event was visited by The Oldham Deputy Mayor Councillor Jenny Harrison, The Mayor’s Concort Councillor Shaid Mushtaq and The Oldham Youth Mayor Samah Khalil. Everyone joined in the activities and agreed it was a great success
Alexandra Park was a superb setting for the health event and the organisers and partners send a massive thank you to Oldham Council`s Environmental Services for their continued support.
